Fresh produce straight from the farm is something that Californians, like myself, are lucky to have so readily available. Almost weekly I take full advantage of this during my farmers market visits. Not only do I get fresh and natural whole foods but it's a great way to challenge my culinary creativity to brainstorm what to make based on what is sold that week. Lately I've been able to find little gems like these Pineapple Guavas and other lesser-known vegetables that one wouldn't find at a typical grocery store, like a Romanesco or even the multiple varieties of Peppers that I've seen around!
This week I'm taking you to the farmer's market for my favorite Fall vegetable haul. (Click on the video / photo above for the video) The beauty of all these ingredients is that they pair beautifully together and stand out quite well on their own. For example, I can see myself making a Kale salad with roasted Beets and Butternut Squash with slices of Persimmon and Pomegranate, or mixed with dried Apricots and Goat Cheese. Any of these combinations could work!
Like what I wore here? I have a new fashion video coming out next week, so stay tuned for all the details!
I can't wait until these Hachiya persimmons ripen - they are exquisite. Have you tried them before? Comment below and tell me what your weekly produce haul looks like, whether it's from the farmer's market or not! I love learning how you use the seasonal produce.
