Last week I had the fun opportunity to build an epic Snack Stadium with the Smart & Final team. I had seen these awesome snack structures on Pinterest but never attempted to build one myself. I love how the stadium included everything from snacks, veggies, sweets, to even hot food! There really is something for everyone!
Building the stadium is quite simple and you really only need a few materials. Here is a step by step tutorial below: Also, check out this cool video we made that captures the whole process!
- Step 1: Build your stadium structure – We used 4" x 9" x 4 1/2" white cardboard bins, various sized foil pans, clear spice racks (to create a stadium seating effect) and plastic beverage cups to assemble and offer stability. The amount of supplies really depend how big or small you’d like to build the stadium. I recommend putting together all the materials and lining them up first to see where you’d like to make little tweaks. After the structure is up, add fun decorations like stickers and streamers to make it look festive.
- Step 2: Shop for your snacks – I recommend selecting a variety of your favorite snacks here. Go wild and try to find items with different colors. Try not to stay in the same color palette if you’re doing something like a chips station. For example, incorporate beet chips or sweet potato chips because they add a pop of color that will make the stadium look so pretty. We filled our snack stadium with Montecito Tortilla Chips and Montecito Salsa Fresca, First Street Chili Lime Snack Mix, fresh veggies like Sun Harvest Baby Carrots, First Street Chocolate Chunk Cookies, and of course heartier options, like sandwiches and First Street Beef Meatballs – just to name a few! The great thing about the snack stadium is that it can be customized based on your game day favorites.
- Step 3: Fill your stadium to the brim – There’s no right or wrong way to arrange the food. We placed the fan-favorite guacamole at the center of our stadium, since we know everyone loves guac! The most important things to remember are to have fun, make it your own, and dig in!
Speaking of guacamole – here is my tried and true recipe that’s ALWAYS a crowd favorite.
2 Haas Avocados
1 seeded tomato
2 garlic cloves
1 jalapeno or serrano pepper
1 tbsp cilantro
1/2 tsp First Street Kosher Salt
1/2 tsp First Street Ground Cumin
Chop the onion, tomato, garlic, pepper (remove seeds), and place into a bowl. In a separate bowl, pit and peel the avocados. Juice lime directly over the avocados then mash them together (leave it chunky). Take the rest of the ingredients and pile them on top of the avocados. Add your salt and cumin. Stir together lightly, making sure not to over-mix. Enjoy!
