Winter Sangria

A winter sangria is filled with warm and cozy spices like cloves, star anise, and cinnamon. I gave the traditional red sangria a winter make over!

I’ve served this drink at several dinner parties and my friends always ask for the recipe. I have to warn you though, this drink sort of sneaks up on you, so drink with caution. It tastes so good, sometimes you forget it’s alcoholic.

For this New Year’s Eve, Nate and I will be staying in and watching Netflix, but that won’t stop us from enjoying some yummy drinks and appetizers. I’m planning on making a cheese board, deviled eggs, maybe mini pizza bites, and of course this winter Sangria. It’s the last day of the year, we’re going out with a bang! Or at least as much as possible with a 1 year old sleeping upstairs. :)

Winter Sangria

Serve: 16-20

Recipe:

1 Orange, sliced
1 apple, sliced
1 pear, sliced
1 cup frozen cranberries
3 cinnamon sticks
5 star anise
7-8 whole cloves
1 cup Tito’s Vodka
2 bottles Winemaker’s Selection Cab Sauv
3 cups spiced apple cider
1 liter club soda or sparkling water

In a large punch bowl, add the ingredients and let it soak for 2-3 hours to develop the warm flavors.

When ready to serve, add ice to glass and ladle sangria with fruit. Enjoy!
